I always use free version with winapp2.ini. Works for my needs.

The problem appears like you got a corrupted system files or a registry. Did you restore windows several times ? or system restore failed sometimes ? or OS updates failed ever ? Then only apps start behaving odd like this. And also if you use one or several anti-telemetry apps , windows will mess up like this.
I suggest you fresh OS installation and avoid things that need system restore and rely on one good telemetry app only. (apply shutup10 recommended settings).

Sorry, but this happens on two diff OSes on the same PC and on two other machines (notebooks) AND on a virtual machine as well.

As I said try slim or technician version and use a different cracking method and put hosts file i provided. If problem still persists, solution is out of my knowledge.
