Antivirus are a two sided sword: they are constantly showing false positives (specially for software cracks) so from the moment you open them, you are in risk.
Personally I prefer the file monitors which scan changes in the system. If you open the file and the crack do more changes than expected then it's clear that there is a virus and where is the virus. With linux and software like inotify this is a piece of cake, but with Windows, it's slightly worse to track it but doable.
