Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and click Change Product Key. Enter this generic Windows 10 Pro product key:

VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

Follow the prompts to upgrade from Home to Pro.

Once done, your PC will again require activation. You can use this HWID tool again to force a digital activation for Windows 10 Pro.

You have No permissions for clarification, the first time I tried it the process went to about 85% before it went "oh something's funky with your internet, ending process now" and on subsequent attempts it's spitting out that error code

Run the Windows Update troubleshooter:

Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. If you see the Windows Update troubleshooter, click it and then click "Run the troubleshooter". If you don't see the Windows Update troubleshooter, click "Additional troubleshooters". You should now see the Windows Update troubleshooter. As before, click it and then click "Run the troubleshooter".

This should tell you what the problem is, and offer one or more choices for fixing it. Do whatever it suggests. Then you should be able to follow my previous instructions using the generic key I posted.

Good day

I followed your instructions by the letter and now my laptop is now running windows 10 1909. I have a noob question though. Is it safe to now to run the windows update? I activated the windows 10 using HWID. Thanks for reading!

I updated my win10 after registering with hwid online several times. I changed hardware too and again generated hwid to install fresh win10 and again generated hwid. For you, it depends on where you living. If your piracy laws are strict think about updating online. Otherwise you can happily update win10. If you are worried about privacy, download update files separately and install manually.
