Same here i too got multiple dxgi.dll files. I always install "directx-redist June 2010" setup file when i freshly install windows. May be dxgi.dll is part of it. Not sure.

@Manchita The problem you had is because the author of the software does not develop his program with Windows 7 compatibility, it targets only Windows 10, as you can see here:
Code:

as well as its response to a bug report on this problem.
PHP Code:
The contents of this section are hidden

So we find ourselves in the following situation: either you find a way to make the installer compatible (as you did) or you return to the previous version.

Thanks Alv37. Usually when there is an updated version of a program they tell you which Windows versions it is compatible/not compatible with. I got my installer for v67.0.0 on another site and there was no mention of it not working with Windows 7, hence my problem and a lot of wasted hours Googling and trying different remedies. I'll be on my guard when the next MKVToolNix version appears. Thanks again. 113 113 113

You have No permissionsHi Chillgates, you'll see by my later post that the problem is solved...the creator of the program didn't make it clear that it no longer supports Win 7...in fact he says that v66.0.0 only worked on Win 7 "by accident"not by intention.. I wish he had just made it clear that it wouldn't work on Win 7 and save me, and probably many others, a lot of hassle. The "revision" version of v67.00 seems to be working....but I need to test it a bit more. Thanks for your reply. 113 113 113

Since v68, it doesn't work anymore on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, the last version only works with Windows 10 and 11 (and their respective server versions).
